Project Overview
SysComm successfully managed and executed the equipment, facility and utility commissioning scope of this €80 million facility at the National Technology Park, Limerick. The facility, originally owned by Optech Europe, was renovated to meet Ethicon Biosurgery Ireland’s needs.
This was a leveraged project, which required all construction and commissioning documentation to be generated and executed to the standard required to support qualification.
The SysComm team executed the Blue Tag commissioning scope for the entire facility, which included a warehouse area, a utilities area and a manufacturing area. Additionally, the SysComm team also reviewed and approved the executed Green Tag construction turnover documentation for the mechanical, electrical and facility scopes of the project.
The systems and equipment commissioned by the team included autoclaves, downflow booths, fridges, clean and black utilities, and an ISO Class 5 facility.
The entire commissioning scope was delivered on-time and within budget.
Key SysComm personnel were retained on the project in a Quality Assurance role to support the client team during qualification and during their preparation for the facility’s pre-audit inspection. SysComm personnel were also seconded to support the facility’s audit team in advance of, and during, their successful Health Products Regulatory Authority (HPRA) Engineering Inspection.
LEED Enhanced Commissioning (CxA)
To assist the facility achieve its LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) certification status, SysComm provided Ethicon Biosurgery with LEED Commissioning and LEED Enhanced Commissioning (CxA) support.
In addition to design reviews, developing operations and maintenance manuals, and verifying training requirements for the facility’s personnel and developing commission reports, SysComm’s CxA returned to the facility eight to ten months after handover and verified compliance with the process.
