Project Overview
SysComm provided Construction Quality support and Commissioning Execution services into the Construction Management Team during the Janssen Pharmaceutica Plant 3 Shutdown Project at the Janssen Pharmaceutica facility, Geel, Belgium.
This project was executed during the Facility’s 2015, 2016 and 2017 Shutdown Windows and incorporated upgrades to the Plant’s process, utility, electrical, HVAC and instrumentation & controls systems. It was a leveraged project, which required all construction documentation to be generated and executed to GMP standards.
In 2015, the SysComm team executed the Green Tag commissioning scope; reviewed and approved Mechanical, Electrical, I&C and HVAC Construction Turnover Packs; managed Mechanical Completion walk-downs; punch item generation & allocation; created and managed the Project Master Punchlist; and trained all project personnel involved in executing C&Q support documentation.

In 2016, this scope was expanded to include the execution of the mechanical Blue Tag commissioning scope, i.e. the leak testing of new build systems; energisation and flushing of utility systems; and the execution of QA P&ID walk-downs. SysComm delivered this increased scope within the aggressive durations provided to it in the Project schedule.
In 2017, the scope was further enhanced to include the provision of Pre-Construction Services to the project, e.g. optimisation of Green Tag & Blue Tag delivery & turnover processes. The impact of these services provided greater transparency on the Construction Team’s progress and quality and reduced the execution time on Green Tag & Blue Tag test protocols.
The systems upgraded in the scope of this project included; compressed gases, steam, process liquids, sprinkler, liquid waste, vent, cleanrooms and HVAC.
